Dr Myles McGregor-Lowndes

Dr Myles McGregor-Lowndes has over 40 years’ experience in nonprofit law, governance and philanthropy, and has been an active member of the Uniting Church since adolescence. He has held numerous Church roles, including Elder, Parish Chair, Presbytery Chair, Synod and Assembly committees, Assembly Standing Committee, and UCA representative to ecumenical bodies. He has contributed to ministerial discipline, legal reference, finance and property committees, and missional departments, supporting the Church’s governance and mission across Queensland and nationally. Dr McGregor-Lowndes has also represented the Church in ecumenical forums and global gatherings, including as youth representative to the World Council of Churches. As a solicitor, he has advised churches, charities and nonprofit organisations across Australia and internationally, and founded the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at QUT. Dr McGregor-Lowndes has authored over 1,400 publications, contributed to national and international policy development, and served on boards including UnitingCare Queensland and the ACNC Advisory Board. He was awarded the OAM in 2003 for service to the nonprofit sector.
